Streaming services are great, but have you ever caught up on live TV channels? Some content that we pay for on platforms such as Netflix and Hulu can be found on some much-loved UK TV channels. As long as you have an operating TV aerial of course. Click here for TV aerial installation. Check out our list below of some of the best TV shows on British TV. Although, side note, they aren’t all British productions!

Gogglebox

What could be more entertaining than watching TV? Watching other people watch TV on our TV, of course. Aside from the confusion, Gogglebox has got to be one of the most entertaining reality TV shows on British TV. The show records raw reactions of everyday British residents as they watch TV with their partner, friend, or family members. Each episode is centered around specifical shows or TV content as we watch some hilarious characters critique the TV.

2 Broke Girls

E4 broadcast the hit sitcom, 2 Broke Girls, which features, umm, quite literally 2 broke girls. Friends and roommates Max and Caroline spend their days working in a local diner in an attempt to save funds for their dream of owning a cupcake shop. With Max’s sarcastic and blunt manner, and Caroline’s perky, bubbly, and sometimes dim-witted ways, the pair do not always see eye to eye, but that simply adds to the humour!

The Apprentice

Calling all business lovers, Sir Alan Sugar stars in this BBC One favourite as ambitious entrepreneurs approach him with a chance of going into a business partnership with Lord Sugar himself. If you enjoy innovation and new business ideas, be sure to tune it to witness the creativity and business proposals displayed on the show.

How I Met Your Mother

Although it is another American sitcom, How I Met Your Mother, is another E4 favourite. This channel certainly cannot get enough when it comes to this series judging by how much they show it! Centered around Ted Mosby, he tells his children what his life was like back in the day, explaining the events that led up to him meeting their mother. With the group of friends he has, the show is nothing short of entertaining, however, it did receive criticism for its ending. Check it out to see what you think of the conclusion to the show.

I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

Well, it wouldn’t be an article about the best TV shows on British TV if we did not include the much-loved, family favourite, I’m a Celebrity. Taking place in the Australian jungle, the British public watches a team of celebrities make their way to their new home via the dreaded skydive. Upon entering the jungle, the campmates live life rough, with limited food, and in sleeping bags outdoors, but the public’s opportunity to nominate individuals to take part in the gruesome and nerve-racking challenges has got to be the best part!

Made in Chelsea

One of Britain’s favourite reality programmes, Made in Chelsea is centered around some of the most affluent young adults in the UK. Filled with relationships, friendships, business, and most importantly drama, this series is now on its 22nd series. Having premiered in 2011, the show has included some spin-off series too, in locations including New York, LA, and Ibiza, and episodes can be caught on E4.

First Dates

If you want to pick up some dating tips, definitely do not take any from this show. We are only joking, well, we think so anyway, as some dates on this show have been extremely questionable. Taking place in a chophouse restaurant in Central London, one individual walks into the restaurant while they wait nervously for the stranger walking through the double doors who the production team believes is a suitable match for them. Full of laughs and some awkward moments First Dates is definitely a hilarious watch.

You’ve Been Framed!

If you want to get your hands on £250, be sure to submit a priceless video of your family member or friend into ITV’s You’ve Been Framed! You guessed it; this British TV series is comprised of nothing but funny home videos submitted by the public. The fact that this is narrated by British comedian Harry Hill makes the videos even more comical. Premiering in 1990, this show is still going strong as it looks like the public has endless amounts of videos to supply.

Come Dine with Me

Channel 4 favourite, Come Dine with Me, is a game show featuring five amateur chefs, all living local from one another. They must all host their very own dinner party at their home comprised of a three-course meal, and on the taxi home, each of them rates the meal. However, get ready for the drama and hilarity. These chefs do not always hold back, and the competition is real. Come Dine with Me brought us the viral video of a man putting a whole whisk inside his mouth, which certainly got the internet world laughing.
