The 15 Biggest Latest Technology Trends In 2020 Everyone Must Get Ready For Now
With all the recent hype around augmented reality and virtual reality, I wanted to get a head start on this year’s top latest technology trends. I looked at the top 15 technologies that will make their mark in the next ten years and projected the growth and direction of each one, for every market segment and business sector. Some are obvious; some will catch on quickly, while others will take time to fully take off. And while I may not have covered every single one, you will be surprised at some of the things I have included.
These are the 15 hottest technologies in the tech industry for 2020, based on data from leading technology industry analysts and research firms.
The Future of Virtual Reality
The Oculus Rift, Google Cardboard and more virtual reality devices are going to be coming out in the next few years. As more and more people become comfortable with the idea of wearing virtual reality head-mounted displays to enjoy video games and other activities, this technology is quickly becoming a part of our daily life.
We have already written about how virtual reality could be applied to sports and even the military. Now it seems that we may even see more commercial applications like retail and foodservice for virtual reality. Some experts say that in the next few years we may even see people wearing virtual reality glasses for shopping, as a form of augmented reality. This may be just the start of virtual reality being used for more than just entertainment and gaming.
5G Data Networks
The 5th generation of mobile internet connectivity is going to give us super-fast download and upload speeds, and with 5G connectivity, you will also be able to access even faster speeds and download much more content. 5G is also the first generation of mobile internet technology to support the latest technologies like high-speed, 4K video streaming and cloud computing. This advanced technology will bring many benefits including higher bandwidth, lower latency, longer battery life, and even more innovative applications and services.”
As an example, a single 4K video will be downloaded in a few seconds from a phone to the cloud, where it will be processed by 4K ultra-high-definition (4KUHD) cameras. The new 5G network will also support next-generation high-speed virtual reality and augmented reality applications which will allow users to interact with virtual and augmented reality environments that have a much higher resolution and detail.
The 5G network is being developed by the global tech giant in cooperation with carriers, OEMs and other network operators.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the most transformative tech evolutions of our times. AI can now do more than just take our selfies, it can create a new world. The way AI works is through the use of intelligent algorithms. For instance, if a computer program is given a picture of a car, and is told to create an image that looks like it’s driving along a road, it can automatically do so. It can also do this for other images as well. This is called image recognition. This isn’t just something that is in the past, AI is now doing for us all the things that our brains were never intended to do.
AI has given us the ability to solve many problems that would otherwise be difficult, if not impossible, for humans to solve. The ability to design algorithms that understand and predict the future has opened up vast new possibilities for us.
Autonomous Driving
While we still aren’t at the stage where we can expect to routinely travel in, or even see, autonomous vehicles in 2020, ʻI think thereʼs a lot of ways in which we can make the most of the technology and make it as safe as possible.’
While itʼs unlikely we’ll see self-driving vehicles on the roads of San Francisco by the time the event comes to an end, itʼs worth thinking about how we can take advantage of this technology before it becomes a reality, especially given that the tech will become more advanced in the coming years.
And for those people that do see self-driving vehicles in the not too distant future, you might want to remember one of the best lines from the movie Her:
“You canʼt live every day like you want to.”
Personalized and predictive medicine
Technology is currently transforming healthcare at an unprecedented rate. Our ability to capture data from wearable devices is a key component of this transformation. By harnessing wearable data to create predictive models, healthcare companies will be able to identify patients more accurately and treat them more precisely.
In 2016, healthcare will be the largest use of personalized and predictive medicine. By leveraging data collected by wearable technology, healthcare organizations can better target patient treatment. For instance, a healthcare system might monitor a patient’s fitness level and detect when their condition worsens. It then would recommend a more appropriate treatment.
In order to achieve these goals, wearable technology will need to be connected to a large set of health records. Some of the most exciting companies in this space are health data aggregators such as Datawatch and HealthWatch.
Autonomous Devices
In respect to the previous point robots, drones, and autonomous vehicles are some of the innovations in the category the consulting firm Gartner labels “Autonomous Things”. The concept is one that has been around for quite some time and will see continued expansion in the years to come.
These types of devices will be used in many different ways in the future, including, for example, in healthcare settings, home security, and, in some cases, even as food delivery vehicles. The concept of autonomous vehicles is especially promising for the automotive industry as a whole. Automakers and suppliers are working to develop the technology so that it can be incorporated into new car models.
The latest announcement is that Audi AG has begun testing a small autonomous vehicle on an urban racetrack. The vehicle, which is able to tuck into tight spaces and navigate the streets and lanes, is not meant to carry any passengers, however, that could change in the future.
Internet of Things (IoT)
Many “things” are now being built with WiFi connectivity, meaning they can be connected to the Internet—and to each other. Hence, the Internet of Things, or IoT
There are many different types of devices and machines that can be connected to the Internet, but today, we focus on industrial automation. For the IoT to really take off, it has to be connected to many different kinds of things. For instance, it needs to be able to talk to machinery and machinery needs to talk to other machinery. And this all has to happen on a distributed infrastructure.
Distributed infrastructure
Let’s start with a look at the basic concept of IoT. For instance, imagine an IoT connected refrigerator that tells you when it needs food. There are different types of IoT devices in the market now:
- Software
- Hardware
Both software and hardware devices can be controlled by the cloud. All these IoT devices can interact with other devices in the network. The device uses your internet connection to send data to other IoT devices.
Some examples are:
- Smartphones
- Smart Watches
Internet of Things (IoT) is all about connectivity, sharing data, and control of devices.
Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity might not seem like emerging technology, given that it has been around for a while, but it is evolving just as other technologies are. Companies have begun to realize that cybersecurity is going to be very important for their business as they compete with each other for the same market, and many will be looking to make their companies more secure, whether it’s through improving their technology or their business model.
In many cases, this will require investing in security technology, such as new tools and practices, but others may require a new strategy. In most cases, the companies will find that they will need to make a choice between spending a portion of their revenue on cybersecurity versus other costs. Some of the biggest companies in the world have already made the choice. Microsoft’s purchase of the cybersecurity company Malwarebytes illustrates this, as they chose to invest in cybersecurity first, rather than in other areas.
Computer Vision
In computer terms, “vision” involves systems that are able to identify items, places, objects or people from visual images.
For example, a camera might be able to detect objects like cars from photos of cars. The same camera could also identify people if there are enough faces in a photo of a person. A system might even be able to recognize people if they are in a group.
The technology could also be used to make sure that products are not advertised with deceptive images of the product being sold. This technology could even allow a system to detect items if they are being sold by a person who has a similar name to the product.
This technology is just one of many emerging AI applications that are expected to transform the way we do things in the future.
Extended Reality
Extended Reality (XR) is a catch-all term that covers several new and emerging technologies that are being investigated by computer vision experts and can offer a significant advance over traditional vision technologies. The term XR encompasses a number of new technologies, and it can be difficult to categorize them and to understand what each does. There is, however, a broad definition, and some of the most important features of XR are described below.
1. It is able to model images at a higher resolution and with higher fidelity than has ever been achieved before. This allows for new and innovative applications in areas ranging from healthcare and education to retail and automotive. In fact, some of the technologies described below have already started to be used in the real world.
2. It provides new insights, capabilities, and tools for machine vision applications.
Blockchain Technology
Blockchain technology is another topic that frequently appears on these end of year lists. It has now broken free from an exclusive association with the world of cryptocurrencies; as more people get into bitcoin and other cryptocurrency markets, more are coming to realize that blockchain technology has many advantages over Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Blockchain is an extremely powerful new technology that enables people to build and execute distributed applications (DAPPs) with confidence that transactions will be recorded securely on a distributed ledger. DAPPs are basically applications that are run on top of the blockchain, like Airbnb and Uber. The use cases for blockchain applications have exploded.
The blockchain enables smart contracts that can be used for payments, lending, contracts, stock trading, asset registration, voting, contracts for differences and a myriad of other applications. These applications allow businesses to run operations more efficiently and can reduce friction in trade.
Augmented Analytics
This trend represents another stride for big data, by combining it with artificial intelligence. Using machine learning (automated learning), businesses can get more insights, predict events and provide timely feedback. In particular, enterprises are using big data and the cloud to enable better analysis and analytics, which helps them provide better customer service and make better business decisions.
Machine Learning is the new buzzword, and enterprises, like Microsoft, are investing heavily in it. This trend is also a reaction to the challenges that face traditional business models in an era of continuous data analysis and machine learning. As one of the top five biggest companies in the world, Microsoft has invested in many big data efforts and is a leading innovator in artificial intelligence.
Digital Twins
A digital twin is a virtual replica of a real-world system or entity. Gartner predicts that there will be more than 20 billion sensors in all the devices, appliances and other objects in our lives by 2018. Digital Twins help us collect and share data and information. They provide us with the means to get the answers to questions and make decisions that were previously unavailable, with more certainty and less effort. Digital Twins are the newest way to collect, analyze, visualize and interpret vast quantities of data.
Digital Twins are tools used to analyze large amounts of data (such as health data) and communicate those insights to an audience of users (the consumers). The end result is a digital twin that is useful, powerful and fun to use.
Digital Twins, like many things in life, are becoming more like one big system. These tools help us get our work done better, in more ways and at greater speed.
Enhanced Edge Computing
Edge computing is a trend that relates most specifically to the Internet of Things. It consists of placing intermediate points between connected objects. It’s a form of information retrieval which involves a user and computer, but it requires no physical contact between the user and the computer. This allows the computer to retrieve data by itself.
Edge Computing uses the internet for this. To accomplish this, the user accesses the computer to query and retrieve data. Edge Computing is connected to the internet. Edge Computing is the internet in the physical world. The user can query and retrieve data from the computer via the internet through any of the internet-connected sensors, such as the WiFi and 3G/4G cellular networks. Edge computing is the next step in the Internet of Things.
It’s important to understand that Edge Computing is in the future. It will be an integral part of everything in the near future. The new technology will become more and less useful, but it will become part of your everyday life. And it will become a part of a future that you will need to plan around.
Digital Ethics and Privacy
Digital ethics and privacy are topics that are receiving more and more attention from both private individuals as well as associations and government organizations. Digital privacy is a concern in many countries, as it can affect the freedom of a person or company to control their personal information. The digital economy is one that is growing and becoming increasingly integrated, making it easier for people to store and share personal information. With the development of the Internet, the Internet is becoming the primary means of communication for people and organizations. With the proliferation of mobile phones, the Internet is becoming a vital resource for people who may not have access to the traditional means of communication.
The digital economy is an important aspect of the globalization process. It enables companies to make better and more cost-effective business decisions, and also makes them more visible to the global population. The growth in digital communications technology has led to new technologies to assist people with communication problems such as hearing and speech disorders (deaf and hard of hearing), and also to make the global economy more competitive, and for the economy of the region as a whole.
The Final Thought of the Latest Technology Trends
The final thought of Latest Technology Trends is a story of the world of business technology that is a bit more interesting. It’s about new technology that is being created for the benefit of society and the ways in which it will improve the world.
This new technology will help to provide access to health care to those that need it and will help to cut down on carbon emissions. It will also help to increase the productivity of the business and the number of jobs in the world, all the while providing an environment that will allow for people to grow old and die as they would naturally do. This is what has been called the fourth industrial revolution, and it is the one that will lead to the next great wave of progress that will lift mankind up to higher levels of life.
